Anna Kuvaja


Anna Kuvaja is a versatile musician who performs as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She is also renowned as a forte pianist and has given first performances of several contemporary compositions.

Anna came to public attention with her critically acclaimed debut recital in Helsinki (2008), and has given numerous concerts in Finland and abroad as well as making recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and appearing at several festivals. Since 2010 Anna has been teaching at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts in Helsinki.

Anna began her studies in Kuhmo and continued them at the age of 16 for Katarina Nummi-Kuisma at the Espoo Music School. She studied for Tuija Hakkila and Liisa Pohjola at the Sibelius Academy and rounded off her education with masterclasses in piano and chamber music, in the orchestra academy of the Zurich Opera (2005–2007) as well as an exchange student at the CNSM in Paris with Henri Barda.

Alba published her first solo album “Fluvial” in 2016. The record received excellent reviews and was awarded five stars in the BBC Music Magazine. Anna is the recipient of one of the Finnish state’s artists’ grants in 2017.
