Eveliina Kytömäki


Finnish pianist Eveliina Kytömäki studied the piano at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She has also studied the fortepiano and performance practice with Malcolm Bilson at Cornell University.

Kytömäki is the winner of several music competitions in Finland including the 1995 Espoo Chamber Music Competition, the 1998 Competition for lied pianists at the Kangasniemi Music Festival and the 1999 Helmi Vesa Piano Competition. At the Bruges Fortepiano Competition 2004 she received an honorable mention.

Eveliina Kytömäki divides her time between fortepiano and modern piano engagements. She has appeared at many festivals in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, France, Austria, Belgium and the United States. She has made recordings for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and the Finnish recording label Ondine. She has specialized in vocal music and she performs regularly with singers and works as a couch on opera productions. She has also contributed in cross over -productions at Turku Music Festival. She was in the role of Mozart in a play “Mozart’s Journey to Prague” by Seppo Parkkinen (2007-08) and as Maria Judina in a play about Shostakovich (2009).

Since 2002 Eveliina Kytömäki has been a lecturer in piano music at the Turku Conservatory. She also teaches lied music at the Turku Music Academy. 2007-2009 she lived in Norway and played the piano in a chamber music group, MiNensemble.
