Sofia Pätiälä

Sofia Pätiälä (b. 2004) is studying at the Sibelius Academy’s Youth Department under instruction of Professor Tuija Hakkila.

Sofia started playing the piano at the age of five. In 2015 Sofia began her studies at the Sibelius Academy’s Youth Department under instruction of Professor Tuija Hakkila. Earlier Sofia’s teacher was Mika Lilius from the Kirkkonummi Music Institute.

Sofia has performed in numerous Sibelius Academy’s concerts and among others Kirkkonummi’s Music Institute’s events, Alfred Nobel’s Manor in Sweden, schools, kindergartens and homes for the elderly. Most recently Sofia was asked to perform for the Association “Friends of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra” with her sister Isabella. In summer 2017, Sofia was asked to perform at the celebration of Finland’s 100-years of independence in Sweden. Also in summer 2017 Sofia was asked to perform with her sister at Alfred Nobel’s Manor in Sweden by request of the Music Association in Karlskoga.

Sofia has participated several times Professor Tuija Hakkila’s master classes.

Sofia has been supported by Pro Musica Foundation. She was awarded at the Young Pianists’ Chopin Competition 2017.
