“Brilliant, I am speechless! Music comedy will certainly continue in Finland. No worries!” Iiro Rantala, Kesäyön Kirkastus concert, 2016
The Piano Desperados were born in the magical landscape of Lake Huhkojärvi in Mänttä and stole the show during their first performance at the Kesäyön Kirkastus concert hosted by Iiro Rantala’s in 2016. They will now return to the Kirkastus Concert in Mänttä, now complemented with the other virtuosi of the Youth Piano Academy, as well as with other renown guests.
“Our goal is to combine virtuosic pianism with hilarious music humor. We’re inspired by the legendary comedy duo Igudesman & Joo, but we also pick pearls and diamonds from the unlimited treasures of the world of movies and movie comics.”
The Piano Desperados have performed, for example, at the Korsholm Music Festival, the National Brass and Winds Competition “Hullu Puhallus”, at Westers in Kemiö, at the Sibelius Museum in Turku, the Symposium of the European Piano Teachers Association in Helsinki and in many other international symposia. They also made a concert tour through Málaga, Fuengirola, and Benalmádena in Spain.
The group members Samuel Eriksson, Leevi Ollila, Tarmo Peltokoski and Liisa Smolander have also earned laurels and trophies at numerous competitions (including the National Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition, the Tampere Piano Competition, the Chopin Competition for Youth, the Steinway Piano Festival, and the National Brass and Winds Competition “Hullu Puhallus”) and also performed as soloists with various orchestras in Finland.
