Ilona Liiman (b. 2004) studies piano at the Sibelius Academy Youth Department with Niklas Pokki as her teacher. She started to play piano at the age of six. Years 2012 -2017 Ilona studied at Porvoonseuden Musiikkiopisto´s Mäntsälä departement with Anu Holländer as her teacher.
Despite of her young age she has participated in several master classes. This summer she will take part in Mänttä Music Festival International Masterclasses for the fifth time in a row.
Ilona has performed in numerous matinees in Mäntsälä and in the Sibelius Academy Youth Department. She performed with Porvoo’s Music Institute’s teacher orchestra as a soloist in 2016 and at Porvoo Suvisoitto with Avanti! orchestra in 2018. Ilona is also an active chamber musician.
Ilona has participated in Leevi Madetoja piano competition in 2015. In Lustlik Klaver piano competition in Tallinn she got shared first prize in 2013, and first prize in 2015. In Steinway Piano Festival-competition 2016 she got third prize, and in 2018 she got first prize in her age group.
Ilona also sings in choirs. She started singing at the age of eight in Mäntsälä, and has taken part in Sibelius Academy’s choir projects.
