Maximilian Fagerlund is an 18-year-old pianist from Helsinki. He started his studies at the age of six with Junio Kimanen at the Länsi-Helsinki Music Institute. In 2015 Maximilian began his studies under Liisa Malmivaara first at the Turku Conservatory and later in 2016 at the Helsinki Conservatory where he currently studies under the tutelage of Antti Hotti. He was accepted into the Youth Piano Academy Finland in the spring of 2023. Maximilian has been taught by several acclaimed piano artists such as Sir András Schiff, Severin von Eckardstein, Ralf Gothóni and Matti Raekallio.

Maximilian is a very experienced performer for his age. His pianistic abilities range from classical repertoire to versatile improvisation. He also works as a chamber musician, lied-pianist, an active composer as well as a conductor. He has studied orchestral conducting under renowned conducting pedagogue Jorma Panula since 2024. The Pro Musica-foundation in Finland has awarded Maximilian with a scholarship for advancement in his musical studies.

In 2024 Maximilian performed at the Riihimäki Summer Concert Series and the Turku Music Festival. In September 2024 he received the first prize in the first ever Jorma Panula Minikapu-conducting competition for under 20 year olds. In January 2025 Maximilian was awarded the first prize in the category for 17-30-year-olds of the national Leevi Madetoja piano competition.
