Sarah Devoyon

Sarah Devoyon (b. 1995), born in Paris to a family of musicians and educated at the Espoo Music School, graduated from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts with a Master's degree in Music Education in July 2022. She has also studied at the Lyon Conservatoire in France. In addition to cello, Sarah has studied piano, classical and pop/jazz singing, viola, bass, guitar and clarinet. 

Sarah has performed all over Finland and abroad, including Latvia, France, Italy and China. In addition to solo performances, Sarah is an experienced ensemble player. She was a soloist in the Tapiola Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2009-2014 and played in the Jean Sibelius Orchestra from 2011-2015. She also played on the farewell tour of Paul Oxley's Unit in 2019 and is currently a member of the backing band of Sony Music Finland artist Sara Siipola. Sara is active in all kinds of projects, both solo and in various line-ups. She was 1st cellist in Opera BOX's 2022 productions of Muumiooppera (the Moomin Opera) and Ranskalainen ilta (the French Evening). 

Sarah also teaches cello. She taught at the Espoo Music Institute in 2020-2021 and as a substitute teacher at the Vantaa Music School in 2022-2023. She is also a conductor and cello teacher in the El Sistema Tempo Orchestra. Since autumn 2023 Sarah has been a full-time substitute cello teacher at Espoo Music School.

At the Mänttä Music Festival, Sarah is responsible for the planning and artistic realisation of the concert series Yhteistä hyvää kaikille (Common Good for All) together with Julia Ilomäki. Read more about the Common Good for All concerts.
