”Ingrid Fliter was born to play Chopin” - Daily Telegraph
Dedicated entirely to the music of Frédéric Chopin, the programme combines poetry and virtuosity in a captivating way. A selection of mazurkas reveals the composer's deep connection with Polish folk music, while the dazzlingly beautiful Nocturne in B major captivates with its lyricism and subtlety of tone.
The main work of the concert is Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 3, which is both poetic and powerful - full of drama, great emotion and pianistic challenge.
Born in Argentina, Fliter is one of the most acclaimed pianists of his generation. A versatile lyricist, she is the first and so far only woman to win the Gilmore Prize, one of the world's most prestigious classical music awards. In addition to music, her great passion is the visual arts.
Artistic director of the Mänttä Music Festival, Niklas Pokki, will give an introduction to the concert (in Finnish) in the Kivijärvi hall at 18.00. The concert ends approximately at 19.45. There is no intermission in the concert.
